A stepping stone, or final destination

You may have an interest in the aviation industry and are possibly already working in this area. If so, and you do not have an aviation-related tertiary qualification, the Graduate Diploma in Aviation is the stepping stone to take you to the next level of your career.

This programme is run in block courses, specifically designed for those that may be working while studying. It takes one year full-time to complete.

The Graduate Diploma in Aviation enables you to study another subject without completing a second bachelor’s degree. The graduate diploma is a bridging tool to gain the equivalent of an undergraduate major in a specific area so you can go on to postgraduate study.

Pathway to an undergraduate degree

The Graduate Diploma in Aviation draws on existing courses from the Bachelor of Aviation Management, giving an insight into the full undergraduate degree.

Internationally recognised qualification

Your qualification is internationally recognised and accredited by the key New Zealand aviation authorities.

Massey University’s business and management studies are ranked in the top 300 (by QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) rankings). We are ranked No.1 in New Zealand and in the top 150 universities worldwide for our business administration and finance programmes by ShanghaiRanking.

A unique qualification

Massey University is the only place in New Zealand where you can turn your  passion for aviation into a university qualification. We are an internationally recognised pilot training facility, but we also introduce you to a wider knowledge of the global aviation industry. Topics include:

  • Aviation human factors
  • Aviation security issues
  • Airline strategic management
  • Legal issues in aviation

A background in these topics will expand the range of careers open to you in the aviation industry.

A good fit if you:

  • Are already working in aviation and would like a relevant tertiary qualification
  • Have a relevant degree or professional work experience and wish to add an aviation qualification to your portfolio
